Three-year-old Program
Tuesday and Thursday, 9-11:30 a.m.
Child must be turning three years old on or before October 1, 2011
The emphasis in this class is socialization, learning to enjoy activities without Mommy or Daddy present and relating to teachers and peers. They enjoy an enriched, nurturing, play-based environment with a balance of play and structure. They learn to share and cooperate. We begin to lay the ground work for Kindergarten readiness by teaching colors, numbers and shapes, encouraging patience and self-reliance, and extending focus and memory retention with stories, games and chants in Circle Time.
Pre-Kindergarten 4-year-old Programs
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9-11:30 a.m.
Child must be turning four years old on or before November 1, 2011
In this Pre-K 3 day class we add structure and developmental activities that prepare children for Kindergarten. We offer a stimulating environment with a variety of play choices, structured activities and experiences, We have a phonics program that reinforces letter sounds visually and musically. Children learn to print their names and short words. They make personal books about themselves and nature. We set the stage for reading by offering manipulatives that encourage the formation of words. The children work together to make a Word Wall with words chosen and printed by them. In Circle Time we have stories, games, songs and chants that stimulate receptive memory.

This Pre-K 2 day class, like the Monday, Wednesday, Friday class, includes all the components that carefully prepare children for kindergarten. In addition, there are science themes children love, like ocean animals, the rain forest, reptiles, weather, insects, bodies and space. This early presentation of science piques children's interests. Their curiosity is nurtured and encouraged. They learn critical thinking, prediction, problem-solving, and experimentation.

Combining these two Pre-K classes offers a broad exposure to reading and math readiness skills as well as social, small and gross motor skills. Science themed lesson plans expand your child's knowledge of the world and the creatures living in it.
